Home Front History

"We must never forget the dedication and sacrifice of a generation and the human spirit that persists even against

the most overwhelming odds" ©

The Second World War changed Britain and its people forever and as the gap of history between then and now ever widens, our generation has an increasingly significant role to play in keeping alive the stories of the social, personal and military aspects of the war years on the Home Front. This helps us all to remember the great sacrifice and determination of a generation that lived in extraordinary times.

Media + Research + Archives

Over the years we have recorded a number of first-hand accounts given by people who experienced life on the Home Front. Our archive collections include unique historical images of the nation’s Home Front and we hold the only private collection of photographs of the (CCFF) Canadian Firefighters in England 1942-1945.

Photographs and personal anecdotes are examples of the services we provide towards taking forward the legacy of that era.

Many images in our collection are available in high-resolution for immediate download. They can be licensed for commercial use in books and magazines, newspapers, television programmes, films, websites and advertisements.

We also have access to major collections of unique living history photographs.

Welcome to our website:

We are dedicated to keeping alive the memory and spirit of Remembrance for the generation on Britain’s Home Front during WW2.

A Great Resource

Britain’s 'Home Front History' during WW2 is an established popular resource for Historians, Researchers, those in Education and the Media and anyone else with an interest in this era of history.

We are and will remain a voluntary not for profit Social Enterprise with a shared interest in presenting, as accurately as possible, aspects of life in Britain during the war years 1939-1945. We do this through the use of Archive Material, Talks, Displays, Presentations, Advisory Services, Educational Outreach and Living History.

We can provide bona-fide references and we hold full PLI.

If you would like to know more, simply get in touch and we will be happy to answer your questions. We have close operational associations with a number of trusted partner groups across the United Kingdom including WWll Re-enactment South West and The Rifles Living History Society as well as high profile impressions of Winston Churchill and General Eisenhower.
